Quick summary
  • Bendigo residents checking the July 11-12 events listings will notice more daytime markets and evening sessions clustered around upgraded public spaces than appeared in the same period last year.
  • The change stems from the June opening of extended covered walkways along Hargreaves Mall and added lighting at Rosalind Park, measures funded through the city’s 2025-26 winter activation budget.
  • These works addressed complaints about wind exposure and early darkness that had cut short previous outdoor programs, allowing organisers to schedule longer runs without extra heaters or generators.

Bendigo residents checking the July 11-12 events listings will notice more daytime markets and evening sessions clustered around upgraded public spaces than appeared in the same period last year.

The change stems from the June opening of extended covered walkways along Hargreaves Mall and added lighting at Rosalind Park, measures funded through the city’s 2025-26 winter activation budget. These works addressed complaints about wind exposure and early darkness that had cut short previous outdoor programs, allowing organisers to schedule longer runs without extra heaters or generators.

Market stalls and guided tours

At Hargreaves Mall the Saturday morning produce market now runs until 2pm instead of noon, with 18 stalls confirmed for this weekend including the Bendigo Community Farmers Cooperative. Two blocks away the Bendigo Art Gallery extends its free entry hours on Sunday to include a 11am talk on local textile collections. The Central Deborah Mine adds an extra 10am tour slot on both days after visitor numbers rose 18 per cent in the first quarter of 2026.

Entry to the mine tour costs $22 for adults and $12 for children, figures posted on the site’s booking page last month. The gallery talk requires no ticket but limits numbers to 40 people per session, a rule introduced after the May reopening of its ground-floor café.

Evening options and next steps

Rosalind Park hosts a 6pm outdoor film screening on Saturday with seating on the new grass mounds installed in late June. The film, a 1980s Australian comedy, carries no entry fee. Locals who prefer indoor seating can move to the Bendigo Town Hall for a 7.30pm acoustic set by regional musicians, tickets listed at $18 through the venue’s online portal.

Anyone planning to attend should check the City of Greater Bendigo events page or the individual venue sites on Friday evening for last-minute weather adjustments, then arrive 15 minutes early for the most popular sessions.
