Bendigo Suburbs Guide: Finding the Right Neighbourhood

Bendigo's residential suburbs each offer a distinct character within a city of approximately 120,000 people. The CBD and inner city area around View Street and Pall Mall is popular with young professionals for its walkability and proximity to the art gallery, restaurants and the train station. Strathdale and Kennington in the eastern suburbs are established family areas with good schools and Lake Weeroona nearby. White Hills north of the centre is known for older housing on larger blocks. Kangaroo Flat south of the city is one of the more affordable inner suburbs with strong supermarket and service amenity. The newer estates of Epsom and Huntly to the north offer modern housing at lower prices for families. Flora Hill and Jackass Flat near La Trobe University cater largely to the student rental market.
