Cycling in Bendigo: The Calder Rail Trail, Lake Weeroona and Goldfields Routes

Bendigo's cycling network has developed around its former railway corridors and lake foreshore. The Calder Highway Rail Trail follows a former railway line from Bendigo south toward Castlemaine and is the region's flagship cycling trail. The Lake Weeroona Circuit provides a flat, accessible 3-kilometre sealed loop popular with families and recreational riders. The Bendigo to Heathcote Rail Trail extends south through goldfields country. The Marong Business Park and northern suburbs have shared paths connecting to the CBD. For mountain bikers, the White Hills Reserve north of the city has informal trail riding. The terrain around Bendigo is more rolling than the southern Victorian coastal plain, making it a better fit for moderately fit cyclists than absolute beginners. Hire bikes are available in the CBD. Bendigo Council's cycling map provides current route information.
