Bendigo startups closed three seed rounds worth a combined $1.8 million in the first ten days of July, according to records filed with the local innovation office.

The activity arrives as national venture funds increase allocations to regional health-tech and logistics tools, areas where Bendigo firms already hold pilot contracts with the Bendigo Health network and freight operators on the Calder Highway corridor.

Venues and programs driving the current wave

Weekly founder sessions now run every Tuesday evening at the Bendigo Tech Collective space on Mitchell Street, while the La Trobe University Bendigo campus incubator at 120 View Street opened intake for its August cohort on 8 July. Both sites reported waitlists within 48 hours of posting dates.

Organisers at the Mitchell Street venue added extra seating after 87 people registered for the 14 July pitch night, up from 62 at the same event in May.

Numbers and next steps for founders

City data released last week showed 214 active tech and startup entities registered in greater Bendigo as of 30 June, an increase of 19 since the start of the year. Average early-stage cheque size in the latest filings sits at $620,000.

Founders seeking to join the next open night can register through the Collective’s site before 5 pm on 18 July; the View Street incubator will accept applications until 25 July for its six-month program that includes $15,000 in matched co-working credits.
