Bendigo Details Next Digital Literacy Products in 2026 Roadmap

The City of Greater Bendigo published its updated digital literacy roadmap on 10 July 2026, listing an AI-powered personal tutor app and a set of virtual-reality skill modules as the first two products due for public testing in the first quarter of 2027.

Households across regional Australia are adding connected devices faster than local training options can keep pace, pushing councils to schedule concrete product releases rather than open-ended workshops.

Products Scheduled for 2027

The AI tutor app will run on existing library-issued tablets and focus on everyday tasks such as online banking and government forms. The VR modules will cover safe use of workplace collaboration tools and basic data-privacy settings. Both items are listed with fixed delivery windows in the 18-page roadmap document released by the council’s digital services unit.

Bendigo Delivery Sites Named

Initial trials of the VR headsets will run at the Bendigo Library Service branch on Hargreaves Street and at the TAFE campus on McCrae Street. Staff at both locations have already received the hardware order list, which includes 120 headsets budgeted at $185 each. A March 2026 council survey recorded 2,450 residents on waiting lists for similar training, up from 1,920 the previous year.

Enrolment for the first app beta will open on the council website on 1 August 2026. Residents without home internet can book a 45-minute slot at either listed venue to test the products once they arrive.
