Bendigo Arts and Entertainment Scene Centers on Gallery Work and Theatre Bookings

Bendigo Art Gallery’s $45 million Stage One redevelopment is under way on View Street, where live music activations and the Eat.Drink.Art. exhibition of works by 40 artists run until August 3, 2026.

The timing places the city’s arts offerings in a period of visible change. View Street has become a focal point for both construction activity and temporary programming, while Ulumbarra Theatre prepares for two major interstate productions later in the year. Residents and visitors can therefore combine gallery-site experiences with ticketed performances without leaving the central area.

Venues and street programming

Major performance spaces include Ulumbarra Theatre, The Capital, The Engine Room and Bendigo Town Hall. These four venues anchor the city’s year-round schedule. On View Street, the Eat.Drink.Art. displays sit alongside live music events that activate the precinct during the redevelopment period. Opera Australia’s Don Giovanni opens at Ulumbarra Theatre on August 1, 2026. Bell Shakespeare’s Macbeth follows in October.
