Bendigo nightlife and social scene shifts toward smaller venues

Bendigo's city centre has only four nightclubs licensed past 1am, with Star Bar staying open until 5am and The Metropolitan closing at 3am.

The spread-out layout means people walk between walkable CBD locations rather than gathering in one dense area, and many now choose smaller bars and lounges instead of large clubs.

Friday and Saturday hotspots

The Sporting Globe draws a busy crowd early in the evening. The Courthouse attracts a younger group with club tracks and karaoke. Sound offers an upstairs dance floor that often serves as a final stop, while Social features live music for a middle-aged audience.

Hidden laneway and rooftop bars such as Nimbus, Handle Bar and Babylon keep the emphasis on live music and easy conversation rather than high-volume spectacle.

Tap It In opened with knife-throwing and mini-golf activities. The Deck, the former Universal Nightclub site, has seen low attendance in recent months.
