Local Tours and Experiences Draw Steady Bookings in Bendigo

The Central Deborah Gold Mine added four extra underground sessions each week starting 8 July, with groups now able to book the 11am and 2pm slots on Violet Street six days a week.

July demand for guided outings has risen as families look for short, contained activities that avoid the colder evenings along the Campaspe River corridor. Operators say the pattern mirrors the lift recorded after the Easter long weekend, when day-trip numbers from Melbourne rose by 18 percent compared with 2025 figures released by Bendigo Tourism.

Heritage routes through the city centre

The Bendigo Historical Society runs its 90-minute High Street walk from the Town Hall steps every Thursday and Sunday at 10.30am, passing the former Bendigo Post Office and the Shamrock Hotel. Participants also stop at the Bendigo Art Gallery on View Street to view the current goldfields photography display before returning via Rosalind Park.

Separate tram-based tours depart from the Hargreaves Street depot on Friday nights at 6pm and cover the same central loop plus the old Chinese precinct on Bridge Street. Both programs require advance booking and cap numbers at 20 people to keep the pace steady on the uneven footpaths.

Prices and availability

Adult tickets for the mine descent cost $32 and include helmet and headlamp hire, while the walking tour is $18 and the tram ride $25. Figures supplied by the mine office show 1,850 tickets sold in the first six months of 2026, up 240 from the same period last year.

Bookings for the remaining July dates can be made by phone or at the Bendigo Visitor Information Centre on Pall Mall before 4pm each weekday. Walk-up spots are limited and groups of six or more are asked to confirm at least two days ahead.
