Bendigo arts and entertainment venues launch winter exhibitions and shows

The Bendigo Art Gallery on View Street will open its latest exhibition of regional artists on July 15, featuring 35 works created in the past two years by painters and sculptors from central Victoria.

The timing aligns with a seasonal drop in tourism numbers, which fell 12 percent in Bendigo during the June to August period last year according to city visitor data, prompting venues to schedule indoor events that draw local residents and nearby day-trippers.

Staff at the Bendigo Art Gallery have coordinated with the Capital Theatre on Hargreaves Street to run parallel programming, including a series of evening talks and a short film night on July 22 that will screen works by local filmmakers in the theatre's 400-seat auditorium.

Both sites sit within a five-minute walk of Rosalind Park, allowing visitors to combine an afternoon gallery visit with an evening performance without needing transport between locations.

Entry to the gallery exhibition costs $12 for adults and $8 for concession holders, with free admission for children under 12, while Capital Theatre tickets for the film night start at $18 and include a program booklet listing all participating artists.
