Nightlife and social scene gains momentum across Bendigo venues

Bendigo venues logged 12,400 paid entries across Friday and Saturday nights in June 2026, according to figures compiled by the Bendigo Events Office.

The increase follows the launch of extended trading permits on 1 June that allow selected sites to remain open until 2am on weekends. City centre traders say the change has lifted takings at nearby restaurants that close at midnight.

Venues drawing consistent numbers

The Metropolitan Hotel on Mitchell Street added live music every Thursday and Saturday, pulling in an average 180 ticket holders per show since May. Two blocks away, The Foundry at the corner of Williamson and Queen streets hosts a weekly vinyl night that starts at 9pm and runs until close. Both sites sit within the Hargreaves Street precinct, where footpath seating permits were renewed last month.

Organisers at the Bendigo Arts Collective have scheduled three ticketed after-hours sessions at Rosalind Park rotunda on the next three Fridays. Entry costs $18 and includes a complimentary non-alcoholic drink from a local supplier.

Practical steps for a night out

Tram services on the central loop run until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, with the last departure from the View Street terminus at 12:55am. Patrons heading to The Metropolitan or The Foundry can board at the Hargreaves Street stop without extra charge after 10pm under the current winter timetable.

Advance bookings through the venues’ websites secure tables until 10pm; walk-ins after that time are accepted only if space remains. The Bendigo Events Office lists updated opening hours each Thursday on its public noticeboard at the town hall.
