Over 46,000 local premises in Bendigo gained access to faster NBN speeds after the completion of the Accelerate Great program, which produced an 11 percent increase in average household downloads.
Households now complete file transfers and video calls with less interruption, supporting remote work and online learning without extended waits for content to load. The changes arrive as more residents depend on stable connections for banking, health appointments and school assignments.
Public WiFi and CBD options altering daily access
Free superfast public WiFi operates at more than 140 outdoor locations across central Bendigo, allowing users to download up to 5GB daily without providing personal information. People use these points for quick research or entertainment while moving through the city centre instead of relying solely on mobile data plans.
Bendigo CBD businesses connect through Telstra, TPG, Bendigo Telco and NBN. Bendigo Telco's 100G City initiative has supplied a fully productised 100Gbps fibre network at competitive rates since 2021, giving some offices and shops the capacity to run cloud services or large data transfers on site.
Suburban mobile upgrades and fixed wireless reach
The Victorian Government is upgrading 13 mobile towers from 4G to 5G and building one new tower in Greater Bendigo. These steps benefit over 100,000 premises in areas including Kangaroo Flat, Epsom and Eaglehawk, improving call quality and data speeds for commuters and home users.
Approximately 3,300 premises in Bendigo are being upgraded under an NBN initiative. Fixed wireless customers in the Bendigo Electorate can access speeds up to 100Mbps, with 85 percent able to reach 250Mbps. Residents in those coverage zones report steadier streaming and quicker app updates compared with earlier connections.
