Statistics Reveal Scale of Recent Emergency Incidents in Bendigo

The State Emergency Service recorded approximately 60 call-outs in Bendigo during a recent Code Red Day storm, the highest total for any single location in the north-west region.

More than 11,000 properties lost power, while crews addressed over 490 separate faults on the Powercor network. At peak the same network had recorded 80,000 customers without supply.

Bendigo Health activated a Code Yellow internal emergency alert because of high patient demand and bed shortages. Some elective surgeries were postponed to keep capacity for emergency cases. The Bendigo Health Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with the Bendigo Urgent Care Clinic open 10 am to 10 pm on Saturdays and Sundays for urgent non-emergency care.

Emergency services attended a fatal collision on High Street involving a truck and a 15-year-old pedestrian, who died at the scene. Police requested drivers use alternative routes while the investigation continued.
