Bendigo Metro Expands Services and Pedestrian Upgrades Improve CBD Access

Bendigo Metro has introduced 10 extra weekday bus services to Epsom Station along with an additional evening service to Eaglehawk.

Service Adjustments on Local Routes

These additions build on the operator's role in connecting outer areas to central Bendigo. All weekday V/Line trains between Bendigo and Melbourne now stop at Kangaroo Flat, with four extra off-peak services added on the line. Public transport tickets for V/Line include free travel on local Bendigo bus services operated by Christians Bus, with departures from Bendigo Station to the CBD and suburbs.

Pedestrian and Intersection Changes

Pedestrian Operated Signals with new traffic lights were installed at the Chapel Street and Hargreaves Street intersection in Bendigo CBD. Works started in June 2025 and finished by mid-2025 to support the City Centre Strategic Cycling Corridor. The intersection of Condon Street and Kairn Road was upgraded to improve traffic flow and safety near Victory Christian College.

Regional Road and Tunnel Context

A section of the Calder Freeway between Malmsbury and Harcourt closed to all traffic from 6am to 10pm on Tuesday, 18 February 2025 for filming, with traffic directed onto a 30-minute detour via Calder Highway. The West Gate Tunnel opened in late 2025, giving Bendigo drivers an alternative route to Melbourne via CityLink.
