Bendigo neighborhood projects advance with site works this week

Early works have begun at the Osborne Street site in Flora Hill. The project will deliver approximately 160 new homes, with construction scheduled to start in 2027 and 56 of those units set aside as social and affordable dwellings.

The City of Greater Bendigo targets 900 new houses each year under its Housing Strategy. That plan directs growth to five specific areas: Marong, Junortoun, Huntly, Maiden Gully and Kangaroo Flat. The Osborne Street activity fits inside that framework and shows one concrete step taken in recent days.

Activity at Viewpoint Estate and Flora Hill

Viewpoint Estate in Huntly holds capacity for more than 800 homes. The site already supplies land and housing choices for buyers at different life stages. In a separate development, first residents moved into a new lifestyle community in Bendigo during June 2025 after civil works on Stages 1A and 1B finished and produced 26 serviced sites.

These named locations sit within the five growth corridors listed in the Housing Strategy. Progress at each one adds serviced lots and new dwellings without relying on unverified timelines.

State-funded homes near the station

Labor's Big Housing Build has already delivered 73 energy-efficient homes in central Bendigo near the station. Seventy-five percent of those homes went to applicants on the priority housing waitlist. The same program contributes to a total of 648 new homes planned across Greater Bendigo.
