Emerging talent voices and the next wave to watch

Three unsigned acts from central Victoria will open the next monthly showcase at the Capital Theatre on View Street on July 20.

Live music bookings in regional centres have risen sharply since the start of 2025, with promoters citing stronger ticket sales for support slots rather than established headliners. The shift follows reduced touring budgets reported by major agencies and gives local bookers more room to test new voices before the spring festival season.

Venues and programs in the city centre

The Capital Theatre sits two blocks from the Bendigo Post Office on View Street and shares programming with the Golden Vine Hotel on Bridge Street. Both sites now run the same emerging-artist night on the third Sunday of each month under a joint agreement with the Bendigo Live Music Collective. The collective also coordinates a rehearsal-space subsidy at the old Trades Hall building on Lyttleton Terrace, where several of the July 20 performers have recorded demos this year.

Attendance figures released last week by the collective show 1,840 tickets sold across its six 2026 showcases to date, up from 1,510 in the same period last year. Entry for the July 20 event costs $18 in advance through the venue website or $22 at the door, with doors opening at 7 pm.

Full line-ups and set times appear on the Capital Theatre website each Monday before the showcase. Advance tickets remain available until the day before the event, after which only door sales apply. Regulars also check the noticeboard at the Golden Vine Hotel for last-minute support-act additions.
